What you need:
- Papers
- Crayons
- Pencil
How to play:
- Talk with your child about when they have experienced feeling happy, frustrated, sad, or scared. Discuss how people can help others feel better, and help your child realize how their behavior affects other people. Brainstorm some ways you can help other people feel good such as giving them a hug, giving them a gift, or creating a card.
- Using the papers, crayons, and pencil, create a book of feeling words. Draw a person next to each word and show that feeling on his or her face. Point out that someone’s face and body clues often reveal how they are feeling.
- Now create some stories for each feeling or emotion! Ask questions about why the person might be feeling happy or sad. And what might you do to help the person feel better?
- You can also cut pictures out from magazines or newspapers and add them to your book.
